LA based women’s sportswear company has immediate opportunity for a graphic artist with the following qualifications:

•    At least 2-4 years experience in a graphic artist position with an apparel manufacturer
•    Must have the ability to draw and sketch artwork
•    Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressures
•    Proven ability to set up printer –ready files
•    Willing to take direction and make revisions as necessary
•    Computer skills – Illustrator, Photoshop
•    Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment
•    Eye for graphic trends with creativity to develop original artwork
•    Creative flat technical sketches of bodies ( CADS)
•    Maintain and organize computer files.

What’s a Marker?

A marker is like a blueprint that shows all the pattern pieces layed out, so to maximize the fabric usage (less waste)
Each pattern piece, its area and the number of each individual pattern pieces that will be used in the Marker.

My friend Manuel Jackson, an awesome up and coming L.A. designer (Check out his website ) is inviting us all to be amazed.

His clothing line is a feast of vibrant colors and abstract shapes, and this event seems to be featuring some of his like minded most talented friends… I think the flyer speaks for itself.

Hi, my name is Jennifer Smith, I am a fashion stylist at a childrens fashion magazine out of Long Beach, CA. We use interns here at the magazine, and when I had mentioned to a few of the manufacturers/designers that I work with, that we used interns, a few of them asked me to see if I knew of any college students who would like to intern with them. These are all childrens fashion lines who would need help with marketing, filling orders, checking in with buyers/confirming orders, planning trade show booth displays, product development and design, showroom merchanding, putting together next seasons catoluges, customer service, comparing sales from last year to sales from this year, planning budgets for 2008, etc.

I thought this would be a great opportunity for your students. These internships are all unpaid, but they have many benefits to students. They can use it for course credit, they can network and gain hands on experience, they can build up their resume, and I know a few of these companies are rapidly growing, this could potentially help them land their first job!

Please let me know if you have any questions. What I would recommend doing its emailing all of these companies their resume, and including a little paragraph about them self, and letting the company know what they hope to gain from the internship (ie. course credit, hands on experience, networking, etc) Also include when they would like to start interning and what days/hours you are available.
